Converting temperature
Temperature scales use offsets as well as scale factors. Celsius to Fahrenheit is °F = °C × 9/5 + 32. Kelvin starts at absolute zero.
How the calculation works
Convert the starting scale to Kelvin, then convert Kelvin to the destination scale. Offsets are applied before the final division. For example, 0 °C = 32 °F = 273.15 K.
Precision and rounding
Choose 6, 10 or 15 significant figures for the displayed result. Calculations use unrounded JavaScript numbers. The ≈ symbol indicates that displayed results may be rounded; significant figures are display precision, not measurement accuracy.
