Converting energy
Energy is the capacity to do work. A joule is one newton metre. A kilowatt-hour is energy delivered at one kilowatt for one hour, exactly 3.6 million joules.
How the calculation works
Multiply the source value by its base-unit factor, then divide by the destination factor. For example, 1 kWh ≈ 3600000 J.
Precision and rounding
Choose 6, 10 or 15 significant figures for the displayed result. Calculations use unrounded JavaScript numbers. The ≈ symbol indicates that displayed results may be rounded; significant figures are display precision, not measurement accuracy.
