How to convert Kilometres per litre to litres per 100 kilometres
L/100 km = 100 ÷ km/L
Divide 100 by the positive km/L reading. This is a reciprocal relationship: doubling km/L halves L/100 km. Zero and negative readings are not supported.
Worked examples
10 km/L ≈ 10 L/100 km
100 ÷ 10 ≈ 10
20 km/L ≈ 5 L/100 km
100 ÷ 20 ≈ 5
Frequently asked questions
Why does the numerical direction reverse?
Consumption measures fuel used per distance; economy measures distance per fuel volume. They are reciprocals. A lower L/100 km reading corresponds to a higher km/L or mpg reading. This tool requires positive finite inputs.
